Have you ever been a a situation at work where you questioned the ethics of your boss?  This course comes from a question posed to therapists and their stories.  How do you evaluate whether a place has the standards you believe in or not?  This course will explore questions to ask and observations to make when making your employment decisions.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify possible appropriate outcomes in a variety of ethical situations
  • analyze their own professional workplace to identify possible ethical dilemmas.
  • identify a variety of professional code of ethics and applicable state licensing board administrative rules relating to ethical conduct and responsibility. 
About Ashley: Ashley Northam, MS CCC-SLP has been a practicing SLP for over 15 years, working with a wide range of individuals in terms of age and severity. She has also been the Director of the SLPA program at Chemeketa Community College for the past 10 years.  Ashley has practiced professionally in a variety of practice scenarios involving use of SLPAs, EA/IA, students. Previously, Ashley served as the Chair of the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology for a 6 year term. She continues to work collaboratively with the licensing board in a consultative capacity. Ashley served as the Oregon delegate to the ASHA Advisory Council for Speech- Language Pathology for over 8 years. In addition, Ashley has served and chaired on a variety of ASHA ad-hoc committees involving the development, use and practice of SLPAs including the development of the Associate Membership for SLPAs.
