Chronic pain requires pharmacological interventions. The different categories of medications used for treating chronic pain and our side effects are reviewed. Some medications are given a "black box warning" and these will be reviewed. The potential for harmful interaction between medications and nutritional supplements is discussed. Drug addiction and pseudo-addiction is reviewed.
