In this episode Michelle is joined by the radiant Registered Dietitian Deborah Malkoff-Cohen, MS, RD, CDN, CDE, who is the founder of City Kids Nutrition and NYCeatwell, nutrition consultation services for children and adults living in and around New York City.  Deborah shares her years of experience about the unique roles and responsibilities of an RD who works in the world of Early Intervention, jumping into Scope of Practice, Roles and Responsibilities, and top etiologies that she engages with on a day-to-day basis.  Don’t worry, this isn’t an overly “granola” episode, but functional Interprofessional education, served with a side of avocados and tomatoes!

About Deborah: Deborah Malkoff-Cohen, MS, RD, CDN, CDE is the founder of City Kids Nutrition and NYCeatwell, nutrition consultation services for children and adults living in and around New York City.  Known for her innovative approach to spooning nutritional knowledge into tiny bellies, Deborah is passionate about helping kids achieve physical and emotional health. Whether she is writing nutritional menus for schools in New York City or counseling families in the kitchen on how to best nourish their children, Deborah has committed her life to spreading the message of proper nutrition. To date, Deborah has counseled hundreds of children and their families to the right path of nutrition and better health. 
Currently Deborah’s nutritional expertise spans many ages and diagnoses. She works both privately (City Kids Nutrition/NYCeatwell) and with the City’s Early Intervention Program to optimize the nutrition of children from birth to age three. Additionally, she is the Dietitian for the myFace Center for Craniofacial Care at the Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery at NYU Langone Health where she counsels families and adults with cleft palate and craniofacial conditions requiring special diets after undergoing extensive surgeries.  Deborah is also a Certified Diabetes Educator and an expert on CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitors), Insulin Pump Management, Gestational Diabetes and all things blood sugar related. Deborah is sought after as an industry expert and always being quoted in the media. About Michelle: Michelle Dawson, MS, CCC-SLP is an accomplished lecturer and PEDs Therapist, she has written and given numerous ASHA approved CEU lectures on such topics as Infantile Spasm and Oropharyngeal Dysphagia, along with Apps and ST, and co-authored a course on Best Practices in EI. She has also given an AOTA-approved lecture on Sensory Integration from the SLP perspective.  Michelle has delivered lectures at the SCSHA Convention and twice with the SCATP Expo.
