A Crash Course in Telepractice for SLPs

Marisha McGrorty, MS, CCC-SLP and Sarah Lockhart, MS, CCC-SLP
In this podcourse, Sarah shares her experience as a teletherapist. She provides a realistic overview of the benefits and challenges of telepractice and shares a variety of practical tips, strategies, and wisdom to benefit SLPs who work in this setting and/or SLPs who are considering making the switch.

By the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify three benefits of telepractice.
  2. Identify three challenges when providing services via telepractice.
  3. Describe three strategies that SLPs can use to overcome challenges in this setting. 
About Marisha: Marisha earned her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington. She has worked as a school-based SLP and shares therapy ideas and resources on her blog (SLP Now). Marisha also developed a membership for SLPs that includes digital tools and resources to streamline evidence-based therapy.

About Sarah: 
Sarah Lockhart is an SLP who works in her own private practice in Ashland, Oregon, and she maintains a monthly blog with research and therapy techniques for busy SLPs. Sarah also works in school contracts, where she does a combination of travel work and telepractice. Sarah's clinical interest areas include Autism, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and Dyslexia. Sarah is also co-host of the SLP Happy Hour podcast, a podcast focused on bringing light to burnout in our profession and offering easy lessons and encouragement to SLPs across the globe.
