A Crash Course in Mindfulness for SLPs

In this podcourse, Caitlin shares her experiences with mindfulness as a school-based SLP. After a thoughtful discussion of the benefits of teaching our students mindfulness, Caitlin provides listeners with practical tips and strategies to get started with mindfulness and incorporate it into their therapy sessions.

By the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the benefits of incorporating mindfulness in therapy.
  2. Describe three mindfulness activities that can be used in therapy.
  3.  Describe three strategies that SLPs can use when incorporating mindfulness in their own lives. 
About Marisha: Marisha earned her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington. She has worked as a school-based SLP and shares therapy ideas and resources on her blog (SLP Now). Marisha also developed a membership for SLPs that includes digital tools and resources to streamline evidence-based therapy.

About Caitlyn: 
Caitlin received her master's degree from Loma Linda University in Communication Sciences & Disorders in 2012.  She has worked for the last 8 years serving preschool and elementary students in the CA school system. She began practicing yoga in 2008 and it was love at first savasana! She completed her 200 hour teacher training in 2013 under Sandrine Petit and Philip Fulton, and has since completed 20 hour trainings in: yoga for autism, yoga for children, and trauma-informed yoga.  Caitlin has taught adults and kids alike in studio classes, community centers, and schools. She is passionate about helping others find their inner power through using their voices and living intentionally.
