In this podcourse, Kayla Redden shares her experience as the secretary of her state association and in her state’s advocacy network. SLPs will walk away with practical (and actionable) tips to advocate for change at the local, state, and national levels.
Objective

By the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify three strategies to advocate at the local level.
  2. Identify three strategies to advocate at the state level.
  3. Identify three strategies to advocate at the national level.
About Kayla: Kayla Redden is a school-based speech-language pathologist, currently working her 6th year in a rural preschool and elementary setting. She serves as the secretary of the Kentucky Speech-Language-Hearing Association and has participated in KSHA's iKAN advocacy network, where she learned how to advocate for herself, her students, and other SLPs. She creates materials for elementary-aged students on her Teachers Pay Teachers store (Kayla SLP) and blogs about therapy tips (kaylaslp.com).

About Marisha: Marisha earned her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington. She has worked as a school-based SLP and shares therapy ideas and resources on her blog (SLP Now). Marisha also developed a membership for SLPs that includes digital tools and resources to streamline evidence-based therapy.
