What are best practices for AAC? Discover what researchers and manufacturers are developing in the next several years. Discuss the implications of assisted technology as a whole, in light of a society that increasingly connected. This course will cross all medical diagnosis and levels of ability from preverbal to adults with attention and memory deficit.


Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define the nature of “replacement” in terms of assistive technology, from supplanting a lost biological capacity to creating a new one
  • Differentiate the ways that alternative and augmentative technology can progress in the near and long-term future. 
  • Discuss resources for best practice implementation 
  • Describe a variety of cognitive and environmental prosthetics employed by an adult diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
About Lucas: Editor in Chief of and the SpeechScience Podcast. Lucas is an AAC specialist and consultant in Portland, OR. He serves as the Director of Clinical Research and Development for Avaz Freespeech.
