This course is for those professionals working in adult acute and sub-acute rehabilitation settings. (The apps can also apply to those working with preteen/teens in any setting) The course will review accessibility options on an iDevice to support adults with cognitive challenges, describe methods to provide reminders or prompts to adults with memory challenges and describe methods to support attention or executive functioning for adults with cognitive challenges. 

Objective

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe accessibility options on an iDevice to support adults with cognitive challenges,
  • Identify three methods to provide reminders or prompts to adults with memory challenges, and
  • Identify three methods to support attention or executive functioning for adults with cognitive challenges
About Rik: Rik Lemoncello, PhD, CCC-SLP is Associate Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Pacific University-Oregon. With 15 years of clinical experience, he specializes in adult, medical speech-language pathology. He has worked in acute, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term acute care, and outpatient centers. He was trained in tracheostomy/ventilator management at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, MA. His current scholarship focuses on medical SLP, evidence-based practices, graduate student education, and cognitive rehabilitation.
