To date, the average child with ASD is accurately and completely diagnosed only in adolescence. Even with increased interest, education, awareness and advocacy, differential diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders remains a challenge. Misdiagnosis, incomplete diagnosis, deferred diagnosis and delayed diagnosis are common. This practical, hands-on workshop will explore the key issues related to accurate diagnosis, effective treatment and comprehensive management of ASD and its comorbidities.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the multiple factors which confound accurate diagnosis
  • Identify those behaviors that compromise and distinguish various disorders
  • Evaluation methods designed to aid differential diagnosis
  • Determine practical treatment techniques targeted for specific populations and age groups
  • Identify the essential management strategies for effective outcomes
About Judith: Judith Likavec Davis, MS, CCC-SLP began practicing as a speech-language pathologist at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey, California. Her distinguished career has included numerous publications and speaking engagements as well as employment across multiple settings: educational, acute care, rehab, outpatient, home health, community re-entry and SNF.
