This course will expand your thinking about Executive Dysfunction and the use of the collective knowledge of the instructional team to support students in their classroom. Leave this course with multiple strategies and talking points for teams that can be used on Monday.  Your handouts will serve as a manual for ideas to address 12 aspects of executive function as well as a “go to “ list of valuable resources for staff and families.

Following the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Name at least six processes of executive dysfunction
  2. Describe at least two strategies to address each process deficit
  3. Recall two talking points to enhance inclusion for each process deficit of executive dysfunction a student might exhibit in the classroom
About Lorraine: Lorraine Maida, MA CCC-SLP has worked in the educational field for over 30 years. Her experience spans a broad range of roles including Speech Pathologist, special education teacher, administrator, university instructor and educational consultant. She has worked with students and developed programming for all ages and abilities.

Lorraine has been invited to provide hundreds of training opportunities at local, state and national venues related to provision of educational services in schools.  She is currently working as a public school SLP, a seminar provider and education consultant.  She is also adjunct faculty for Central Washington University and a guest lecturer in the Department of Communication Disorders at the University of Washington.
She has written a handbook titled Response to Intervention and the Role of the SLP published by The Bureau of Education and Research.
