This course focuses on increasing the SLPs knowledge base
to implement adaptive equipment used for dysphagia management in a skilled
nursing facility setting. Participants will learn about state-specific and
federal regulations for adaptive equipment management and be able to cite
current evidence-based practice supporting the use of adaptive equipment for
dysphagia treatment. Additionally course attendees will be able to identify
systems for effectively implementing adaptive equipment and how to use the

This course is offered for 0.15 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area)
15 minutes : Introduction, disclosures and need for adaptive equipment
20 minutes: Federal regulations and state regulations, evidence-based practice
45 minutes: Adaptive equipment uses, evidence, and examples/case studies for Provale Cup, Felxi-Cut Cup, Wedge Cup, Sip-tip Cup, Maroon Spoon and MIT-E spoon
10 minutes: Implementation of recommendations, links and references
