Course Description

Dr. Aaron Tobacco discusses the most current scientific evidence about ADHD, interventions, and finding family health and balance amid the challenges and joys of children with ADHD. He addresses ADHD related disruptions and family management styles. He will examine studies that show the frontal lobe involvement with ADHD, including working memory, internalizing speech, self-regulation, perceptions of time, and inhibition of responses. Bridget O'Boyle-Jordan, CPNP, MSN explains the different options for medical management.

About Presenters

Aaron Tobacco

PhD, RN

Aaron Tabacco is a nurse specialist in ADHD and family management. He works as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Linfield College Good Samaritan School of Nursing as a full-time faculty. Aaron has had over a decade of clinical practice in neurodevelopmental pediatrics and been an active family and ADHD researcher at OHSU in both the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center as well as the School of Nursing. He is the co-editor of two prominent books on child and family health in the discipline of nursing and has lectured and published in U.S., Japan, and Europe. He is the father of three sons (20, 17, 14) with ADHD and is currently conducting a new research study specifically on fathers experiences with children with ADHD at OHSU.

Bridget O'Boyle-Jordan

CPNP, MSN

Bridget T. O'Boyle-Jordan is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who comes to SCS from Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) where she worked for 7 years. Bridget joined Sundstrom Clinical Services to continue to focus her practice on children with ADHD, Tourette's Disorder, and related behavioral disorders by participating in multidisciplinary assessments and providing evaluations, case management, and medical management. She also holds a significant interest in the education of families, teachers, schools and the community at large. Ms. O'Boyle completed her undergraduate and master's degrees at the University of Central Florida, obtaining her PNP license in 2003 and becoming certified in primary care pediatrics in 2008. She worked in private practice in Orlando, Florida for 2 years focusing her specialty on children with neurological and neurobehavioral disorders such as epilepsy, migraines, and ADHD. She joined OHSU in 2005 with the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) and Pediatric Neurology as part of the multidisciplinary evaluation teams for Child Development, ADHD and Tourette's Disorder. She left OHSU in 2013 to commit herself to the SCS family and allow more time with her own children.
